Insulated glass units(I.G.U.), also known as double glazing units (or double-pane, and increasingly triple glazing/pane) is made of two or more pieces of glass sheets separated by aluminum frame filled with molecular sieve ( desiccant ). The frame is stuck and sealed by butyl glue on the glass surfaces and Thiokol or silica gel seals all outside edges. Filling gas inside the glass cavity can strengthen its sound and heat insulation properties efficiently. Laminated or tempered glass may also be used as part of IGU.
